Imam Mojtaba Khamenei’s Message On National Persian Gulf Day
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
One of the unparalleled blessings granted by Allah the Exalted to the Muslim nations of our region –especially the noble people of Islamic Iran – is the gift of the Persian Gulf. This blessing goes beyond being merely a body of water; it has shaped part of our identity and civilization and, in addition to connecting nations, has created a vital and unique route for the global economy through the Strait of Hormuz and then the Sea of Oman.
Over past centuries, this strategic asset has aroused the greed of many devils. The repeated invasions by European and American foreigners, along with insecurity, losses, and numerous threats to the countries of the region, represent only a small part of the sinister plans of the global Arrogant Powers against the inhabitants of the Persian Gulf region – the latest example being the recent acts of aggression by the “Great Satan”.
The Iranian nation, which possesses the longest coastline along the Persian Gulf, has made the greatest sacrifices for the independence of the Persian Gulf and in confronting foreigners and aggressors. From expelling the Portuguese and liberating the Strait of Hormuz – which led to naming the 30th of April as National Persian Gulf Day – to resisting Dutch colonialism and the epics of resistance against British imperialism, and more.
However, the Islamic Revolution marked a turning point in these struggles by cutting off the influence of the Arrogant Powers in the Persian Gulf region. Today, two months after the largest military mobilization and aggression by global bullies in the region – and the disgraceful failure of America in its plans – a new chapter for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is taking shape.
The nations of the Persian Gulf region, long accustomed to the silence and submissiveness of their rulers before [global] bullies and aggressors, have in the past sixty days witnessed beautiful displays of strength, awareness, and struggle by the naval forces of the Army and the Revolutionary Guard, alongside the honor and courage of the people and youth of the esteemed southern Iran in rejecting foreign domination.
Today, by the grace of Allah the Glorious, the Exalted, and by the blessings of the blood of the oppressed martyrs of the “Third Imposed War,” especially the great and far-sighted Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Shaheed Khamenei), may Allah elevate his honorable status, it has been proven – not only to global public opinion and the nations of the region, but even to kings and rulers – that the presence of American foreigners and their establishment and nesting in Persian Gulf lands is the most important cause of insecurity in the region. The hollow American bases lack even the capacity to ensure their own security, let alone have the hope of providing security for their allies or the America-worshippers in the region.
By Allah’s will and power, the bright future of the Persian Gulf region will be one without America and will serve the progress, comfort, and prosperity of its peoples. We and our neighbors in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman share a common destiny. And outsiders who, from thousands of kilometers away, act with greed and create evil, have no place here – except in the depths of its waters. This chain of victory, achieved by the grace of Allah the Glorified and the Exalted, and through the strategies and policies of Resistance and the strategy of a strong Iran, will mark the dawn of a new regional and global order.
Today, the miraculous rising up of the Iranian nation is not limited to tens of millions devoted to the struggle against Zionism and America, the shedder of blood. And leading the united ranks of the raised up Islamic Ummah are ninety million proud and honorable Iranians – at home and abroad – who consider all their identity, spiritual, human, scientific, industrial, and advanced technological capacities – from nano and bio to nuclear and missile technologies – as national assets, and will safeguard them just as they protect their land, sea, and air borders.
Islamic Iran, in practical gratitude for the blessing of managing the Strait of Hormuz, will bring security to the Persian Gulf region and will eliminate the misuse of this waterway by hostile enemies. New legal frameworks and management of the Strait of Hormuz will bring comfort and progress for all the nations of the region, and its economic benefits will bring joy to the people – by the permission of Allah, even if the disbelievers dislike it.
