The Office Of Ayatollah Sistani | Message About Gaza
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
After nearly two years of continuous killing and destruction – which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of martyrs and wounded, and the demolition of entire cities and residential complexes – the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are currently suffering from extremely dire living conditions, especially due to the scarcity of food supplies that has caused a widespread famine, sparing not even children, the sick, or the elderly.
While it is not unexpected for the occupying forces to commit such horrific brutality as part of their ongoing attempts to displace Palestinians from their homeland, it is expected of the countries of the world – especially the Arab and Islamic countries – to not allow this great humanitarian tragedy to continue.
Rather, they must intensify their efforts to put an end to it and do everything in their power to compel the occupying entity and its protectors to allow the delivery of food and other necessities to innocent civilians as soon as possible.
The horrifying scenes of the rampant famine in the Gaza Strip – as reported by the media – do not allow any person of conscience to enjoy food or drink in peace.
Indeed, as the Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib (A) said regarding the assault on a woman in the lands of Islam, “If a Muslim were to die of grief after this, he would not be blamed; rather, in my view, he would be deserving of it.”
There is no power nor strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
