When it comes to Allah, the people of Allah, the command of Allah, and [all] that which is related to the holy being of Allah, the stance is to sacrifice. When it comes to Allah, the martyr has put forth a sacrifice and has self-sacrificed. Self-sacrifice means to not take into consideration one’s own self. This is the first stance of the martyr. If the martyr had taken their own self into consideration, and hadn’t exposed themselves to extinction and danger [for the sake of Allah], they wouldn’t have reached the station of a martyr.
